Our Local Academy Committee (formerly known as Governors).
We are a group of volunteers who have a wide range of backgrounds and interests. As members of the Committee, we have one thing in common, and that is our passion and drive to support all of the children at St James, so that they achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. We take this responsibility seriously and are committed to working with the Head teacher, staff and wider community to make an active difference.
The role of the Local Academy Committee is to:
- Monitor the delivery of the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning
- Ensure good quality provision for all children, especially those with Special Educational Needs
- Act as a critical friend to the Head teacher by providing support and challenge
- Monitor and facilitate the physical environment of the school, health and safety at school and access to the school
- Develop, review and implement policies
- Monitor the school budget and ensure good value for money
To do this, we hold a series of meetings. Committee members also visit the school at different times, to talk and work with staff and children and see the school at work and play!
If you would like to discuss any ideas, please make contact with the school office and a member of the Committee will be in touch with you!
